CHILOUT - Children out of Detention

A group of parents and citizens opposed to the mandatory detention of children in Australian immigration detention centres (IDCs). We are appalled that Australia's treatment of asylum seekers breaches several UN Conventions to which we are a signatory, in particular the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CROC). We cannot stand by and witness the mistreatment of children carried out in our name and on our behalf.

RURAL AUSTRALIANS FOR REFUGEES

(RAR) began in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales in October 2001. We are an informal group of concerned citizens prepared to work hard to turn this country away from an inhumane and bizarre policy. Our members range from National Party to Greens we never ask about each other's political allegiances.

WE ARE ALL BOAT PEOPLE

Our goal is to help to create a change in the Government's policies and legislation. The Boat People image is our way of providing a simple, clear and powerful message that expressed the feelings and concerns of many Australians. If enough people take action, we believe the Howard Government will be forced to respond to the Australian community's concern."
